Sr. System Administrator

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Installation, configuration, maintenance and daily administration of R&D development projects
  • Installation, configuration, maintenance and daily administration of version control systems (IBM/Rational Clearcase and Subversion)
  • Analysis of system logs and identify potential issues with systems
  • Apply operating system updates and configuration changes
  • Install and configure new hardware and software
  • Develop, deploy and maintain several system administration scripts and web based applications at customer sites
     

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelors in Computer Science required and three to four years of systems administration experience supporting multiple sites.

Computer Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix, Clearcase, TCP/IP protocol and applications, scripting languages, (shell, Perl, etc.) RDBMS, SQL

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. 

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. 

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
