The Field Service Engineer for this rapidly growing, international medical device company will support an innovative therapeutic technology used in several different clinical settings.  The FSE will work with a complex piece of capital electromechanical equipment running upwards of $1 MM.

As our client’s site count increases dramatically in the U.S., this role will be mostly install based vs Preventative Maintenance or Troubleshooting.

Due to the confidentiality of this role, more details will be discussed in conversation with qualified candidates.


 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Capital Equipment Installation / Repair / Preventative Maintenance.
  • Software troubleshooting, installation, updates, etc.
  • Direct management of parts and inventory.
  • Identification of product and service improvement opportunities.
  • Ensuring customer with timely resolution of problems associated with equipment and/or software.
  • High amounts of travel (60-80%)

Position Requirements

  • 8+ years field service experience on Medical Device Capital Equipment
  • Experience troubleshooting highly complex, electromechanical capital equipment, with a software component at a systems level
  • Proven track record of working independently meeting complex objectives under strict timelines
  • Hands on experience, servicing Multi-Disciplinary Medical Imaging systems
  • Must be ready to travel at short notice
  • Must have a valid driving license, a clean driving record and be able to be insurable under the company’s policies

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, in Electrical/Electronics from an accredited university or college
  • Military Training Certifications applicable as well

Position Summary

This established medical device company is the world's largest manufacturer in their space of the industry. Contribute to the team by participating in thee new product development process, developing concepts, proving feasibility and identifying technologies, suppliers and materials.  Assist in creating and executing project plans for new products, existing products and line extensions.  Create product specifications, design inputs and user needs documents in compliance with design control documentation.  Work closely with cross-functional teams to process development efforts, through testing and drafting procedures.  Ensure compliance with quality standards.  Assist with creating and updating documentation and executing IQ/OQ/PQ.


  • Experience in Pharma, Med Device, Biologics, Biotech or Dental required
  • Strong management growth trajectory, company promotes from within
  • 5 to 7 years’ experience in medical device or other regulated industry with minimum of 3 yrs Product Development Exp.
  • Experience w/ various forms of high volume manufacturing (such as stamping, molding, extrusion)
  • Knowledge of Nitinol, processing, fixture design and testing a plus.
  • Familiar with technology used in automated manufacturing.

<![CDATA[Senior Mechanical Engineer - Medical Device - Complex Capital Equipment]]> Position Description:

Our client is seeking a Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer to augment an already talented ME group and to be part of a larger R&D team. Projects involve a broad range of technologies including complex laser systems, optical delivery systems, ultrasound, and radio-frequency devices all developed organically by our scientists and engineers in our R&D labs. The successful candidate will demonstrate an extensive track record of technical leadership and innovation, functioning as a hands-on individual contributor.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide/define the mechanical system architecture for elegant, cost effective and reliable products and product platform development.
  • Contribute individually to the creation of elegant design solutions from concept through manufacturing.
  • Design for cost and schedule. Provide routine technical review to facilitate effective team communications.
  • Use analytical simulation tools to demonstrate mechanical assembly behavior and to provide evidences that support design brainstorming, and to identify and verify potential failure modes.

Position requirements:

  • MS or Ph.D. in Mechanical engineering with 7+ years related mechanical design experience for medical devices applying medical ultrasound, RF and laser energy.
  • Proven 5+ years of experience in designs, develop, and analyze all aspects of opto-mechanical assemblies which may include mirrors, windows, lenses, prisms, mount components and/or support equipment. Experience in designing optical bench top assemblies including linear and angular adjustments.
  • Understanding of GDT tolerance and designing around tolerance stack-ups for critical alignments. Experience with using opto-mechanical hardware.  
  • Knowledge of optics component mounting, interfaces, and adhesive bonding.
  • Design strain-free mounted mirror assemblies
  • Build, test, and refine prototypes and/or high precision test fixtures.
  • Proven 10+ years of CAD design experience. Solidworks preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of leading manufacturing technologies including plastic injection molding, sheet metal manufacturing, high precision machining and applying commercially available components for motor assembly.
  • Proven communication skills and ability to perform design concept tradeoff study. Demonstrated ability to draw reliable conclusions and make recommendations based on cross-functional inputs (e.g., Clinical, Manufacturing, Quality, and Regulatory).
  • Ability to apply FEA simulation tools to solve complex design/engineering problems independently and to identify the root causes by correlating simulations with test data.
  • Basic knowledge of electronics, optics, and embedded software a plus.
  • Demonstrated strong hands-on skills for design, prototype builds and product qualification and test.
